About Josie Lawrence
Who?
Josie has a soft spot for songs that tell a good story. An active singer in the greater Portland area, she shares her love of storytelling with music that spans genres.
Projects
As a freelance vocalist, Josie performs in several music projects, particularly jazz quartets and ensembles.
Recurring groups Josie appears in are theClifford Cameron Combo, a folk/chamber music ensemble, The Hey La’s, a 60s/folk girl-group, and the RnB band Josie and the Big Blue Worm.
Be on the look out for an EP to be released in fall 2024!
Background
Josie graduated from the Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine and holds a degree in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Jazz Studies. She’s been fortunate to study with great instructors like Amanda Roswick, Taylor O’Donnell, Dr. Charlie Christenson, Mary Johnston Letellier, Dr. Christopher Oberholtzer, and Hans Indigo Spencer.
